The part of a cell that contains DNA is the nucleus. In eukaryotic cells, the nucleus serves as the control center, housing the cell’s genetic material. The DNA within the nucleus is organized into structures called chromosomes, which are responsible for storing and transmitting genetic information during cell division.
In addition to the nucleus, it’s worth noting that prokaryotic cells, such as bacteria, do not have a nucleus. Instead, their DNA is found in a region called the nucleoid, which is not enclosed by a membrane. This distinction is key when differentiating between the two main types of cells in biology.
