In L. Frank Baum’s classic story, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” Dorothy lands in a magical land known as Oz after being swept away by a tornado from her home in Kansas. Specifically, she lands in a region called the Munchkin Country, which is located in the East of Oz.
The place where Dorothy’s house lands is marked by the death of the Wicked Witch of the East, whose silver shoes Dorothy unknowingly acquires. This event sets off her incredible journey across the land of Oz as she seeks a way to return home to Kansas, meeting various characters along the way, including the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion.
