Vasco da Gama did not discover America. He is best known for being the first European to reach India by sea, navigating around Africa’s Cape of Good Hope in 1498.
America was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, although he believed he had found a new route to Asia. Vasco da Gama’s voyages were significant in establishing sea trade routes to India, but he was not involved in the discovery of the Americas.
