Democritus’s atomic model is known as the Atomic Theory.
Democritus, a Greek philosopher who lived around 460-370 BC, proposed that everything in the universe is made up of small, indivisible particles called atoms. He believed that these atoms are eternal, unchangeable, and differ in size, shape, and mass. Although his ideas were not based on experimental evidence and were largely philosophical in nature, Democritus’s concept laid the groundwork for modern atomic theory.
He suggested that just as different shapes of seeds can produce different kinds of plants, the different shapes and sizes of atoms determine the properties of matter. While it took many centuries for these ideas to be validated through scientific experimentation, Democritus’s insights were revolutionary for his time and formed the basis of our understanding of the nature of matter.
