The Sagrada Familia, the iconic basilica designed by Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, is a monumental structure both in height and size. Once completed, it is expected to reach a height of 172.5 meters (566 feet), making it the tallest church in the world.
The basilica’s overall area is approximately 4,500 square meters (48,400 square feet). Its elaborate design features 18 towers in total, with each tower symbolizing different figures in Christianity. The largest tower, dedicated to Jesus Christ, will soar above the city skyline, while the others represent the Virgin Mary, the apostles, and various angels.
As of now, the Sagrada Familia is still under construction, and its completion is anticipated to be around 2026, marking the centenary of Gaudí’s death. The impressive scale and intricate details make it a masterpiece of modernist architecture and a significant cultural landmark.
