Hillary Clinton has run for president two times. Her first campaign was in 2008 when she sought the Democratic nomination but ultimately lost to Barack Obama. After serving as Secretary of State under Obama, she ran again in 2016, this time securing the Democratic nomination. Clinton was the first woman to be nominated for president by a major political party in the United States, but she lost the election to Donald Trump.
