Ruby Bridges is still alive as of October 2023. She was born on September 8, 1954, and is known for being the first African American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana in 1960. Her bravery and the events surrounding her school integration played a significant role in the civil rights movement.
