Benjamin Franklin did not invent the light bulb. The invention of the light bulb is often attributed to Thomas Edison, who developed a practical and long-lasting incandescent light bulb in 1879. Benjamin Franklin, however, is famous for his experiments with electricity, particularly his kite experiment in 1752, which demonstrated the electrical nature of lightning. While Franklin made significant contributions to the understanding of electricity, he did not invent the light bulb.
