Rosa Parks’ first job was as a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama. She began working at a local department store, where she honed her skills in sewing and garment construction.
This position not only provided her with a means to support herself but also played a pivotal role in her later activism. Through her work, she became aware of the inequalities faced by African Americans, and it ultimately contributed to her courageous decision to refuse to give up her bus seat in 1955, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
