What Temperature is the Oort Cloud?

The Oort Cloud, a distant and icy region of our solar system, experiences extremely low temperatures. On average, the temperature in the Oort Cloud is around -263 degrees Celsius (-441 degrees Fahrenheit), which is just 10 degrees above absolute zero.

This frigid temperature is due to the Oort Cloud’s immense distance from the Sun. Located between 2,000 and 100,000 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun, the Oort Cloud receives very little solar radiation. As a result, the region remains one of the coldest places in our solar system.

The Oort Cloud is primarily composed of icy bodies, such as comets, which are made up of frozen gases, water, and dust. These icy objects have been preserved in the extreme cold for billions of years, making the Oort Cloud a fascinating area of study for astronomers.
