What Part of the Retina Lacks Photoreceptors?

The part of the retina that lacks photoreceptors is called the optic disc. This is the area where the optic nerve exits the eye to connect to the brain. Since there are no photoreceptors (rods and cones) in this region, it creates a blind spot in our visual field. Normally, our brain compensates for this blind spot by filling in the missing information from the surrounding visual field, so we don’t usually notice it in our day-to-day activities.
