In addition to Hiragana and Katakana, you may also encounter Kanji, which are logographic characters borrowed from Chinese. Kanji represents whole words or concepts and is commonly used alongside Hiragana and Katakana to form sentences.
When watching anime, you’ll notice that many character names, places, and actions are depicted in these scripts, with Hiragana being used for words that don’t have a Kanji representation, and Katakana for words that are of foreign origin or sound.
