The first color of the rainbow is red. When light from the sun passes through raindrops in the atmosphere, it refracts, or bends, creating a spectrum of colors that we see as a rainbow. The sequence of colors in a rainbow, starting from the outer edge, is always red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. So, red is not only the first color in the visible spectrum but also the one that appears at the top of the arc of a rainbow.
