The Golgi body, also known as the Golgi apparatus, can be compared to a post office. Just like a post office sorts, modifies, and packages items before sending them to their destinations, the Golgi body processes, modifies, and packages proteins and lipids received from the endoplasmic reticulum. It then sends these molecules to their appropriate locations within the cell or outside of it. This analogy helps to understand the essential role the Golgi body plays in the cell’s transport and delivery system.
