A suture joint is a type of immovable joint found primarily in the skull, where the edges of the bones are tightly interlocked. These joints are fibrous and are connected by a thin layer of connective tissue called sutural ligament. Suture joints provide stability and protection for the brain, as well as allowing for slight movement during growth, particularly in infancy and early childhood.
