A baby cheetah is called a cub. Cheetah cubs are born in litters of three to five and are usually hidden in tall grass or thick vegetation to protect them from predators. The mother cheetah takes great care of her cubs, teaching them essential survival skills like hunting and avoiding danger.
Cheetah cubs have a unique feature: a mantle of long, grayish hair that runs along their back. This mantle helps camouflage them in the grass and makes them look like honey badgers, which predators tend to avoid. As they grow older, this mantle gradually disappears.
Cheetah cubs stay with their mother for about 18 months, during which they learn to hunt and survive on their own. After this period, they leave their mother to establish their own territories.
