Florida is surrounded by several major bodies of water. To the east, it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. To the west, it is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico. The southern tip of Florida is close to the Caribbean Sea. Additionally, the state has numerous bays, inlets, and smaller water bodies that contribute to its extensive coastline.
