Followers of Confucianism are commonly referred to as Confucians. Confucianism is a philosophical and ethical system based on the teachings of the Chinese philosopher Confucius. It emphasizes moral integrity, social harmony, and the importance of family and community.
Confucians strive to live according to the principles laid out by Confucius, which include virtues such as ren (benevolence), yi (righteousness), and li (proper conduct). These principles guide their behavior and interactions with others, aiming to create a harmonious society.
In addition to being called Confucians, they may also be referred to as Ruists, derived from the Chinese term Ru, which historically referred to scholars who studied and practiced Confucian teachings.
