Segmentation is a feature primarily associated with annelids. This group of animals, which includes earthworms and leeches, is characterized by their bodies being divided into segments (metameres) that are internally and externally similar. This segmentation allows for greater flexibility and mobility, as well as more complex structures and functions. While some other groups, like certain larvae of echinoderms, may show a form of segmentation, true segmentation as a defining characteristic is best exemplified in annelids.
