The Grand Canyon is not located in the Rocky Mountains. It is situated in the state of Arizona, within the Colorado Plateau region. The Rocky Mountains, on the other hand, stretch from northern British Columbia in Canada to New Mexico in the United States. While both the Grand Canyon and the Rocky Mountains are iconic natural landmarks in the U.S., they are distinct geographical features separated by hundreds of miles.
The Grand Canyon was carved by the Colorado River over millions of years, creating its vast and dramatic landscape. The Rocky Mountains, however, were formed through tectonic plate movements and volcanic activity, resulting in a rugged mountain range.
