The Great Pyramid of Giza stands at an impressive height of approximately 481 feet (146.6 meters). Originally, it was about 488 feet (148.8 meters) tall, but over the millennia, the structure has lost some of its outer casing stones, which contributed to its current height.
The pyramid was constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, around 2580–2560 BC, and was built as a tomb for the Pharaoh Khufu. It is the largest of the three pyramids located on the Giza plateau.
The monumental scale of the Great Pyramid not only serves as a testament to ancient Egyptian engineering but also reflects their beliefs about the afterlife and the divine nature of their pharaohs. The careful alignment and precise measurements show the Egyptians’ advanced knowledge of mathematics and astronomy.
