Solomon’s Temple, also known as the First Temple, was destroyed once in history. This significant event occurred in 586 BCE when the Babylonians, led by King Nebuchadnezzar II, besieged Jerusalem. This destruction marked a pivotal moment in Jewish history, as it resulted in the exile of many Israelites to Babylon.
A common point of confusion arises from the existence of a Second Temple, which was built after the first one was destroyed. The Second Temple was completed in 516 BCE and stood until it was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. However, Solomon’s Temple itself was only destroyed that one time by the Babylonians.
