The Republic of Texas had a total of four presidents during its existence from 1836 to 1845. These presidents were:
- David G. Burnet (Interim President, 1836)
- Sam Houston (1836-1838, 1841-1844)
- Mirabeau B. Lamar (1838-1841)
- Anson Jones (1844-1845)
Sam Houston served two non-consecutive terms, making him the only president to do so. The Republic of Texas eventually joined the United States in 1845, becoming the 28th state.
