The Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, are famous for inventing and flying the world’s first successful motor-operated airplane. During their experiments and test flights, they did experience several crashes. However, the exact number of planes they crashed is not well-documented. What is known is that they had a total of three gliders and one powered airplane during their early years of experimentation. The Wright Brothers’ first powered airplane, the Wright Flyer, crashed during its fourth flight on December 17, 1903, after achieving a historic 59-second flight. Despite these crashes, the Wright Brothers learned valuable lessons from each failure, which ultimately led to their success in aviation.
