Ivan the Terrible, the first Tsar of Russia, had a total of seven children. However, not all of them survived into adulthood.
His most notable children were the two sons he had with his first wife, Anastasia Romanovna: Dmitry and Ivan. Dmitry, the youngest, died under mysterious circumstances at a young age, which sparked various theories and legends about his death. Ivan, the Tsarevich, was involved in the turbulent political struggles of Ivan’s later reign.
Following Anastasia’s death, Ivan married several more times, and during these marriages, he had a few more children. However, many of them either died in infancy or early childhood, which was a tragic fate not uncommon in that period of history. By the end of his life, only two of Ivan’s children, Feodor and Dmitry, survived to adulthood. Feodor later succeeded Ivan as Tsar.
In summary, while Ivan the Terrible had seven children, the challenges of the time meant that few lived long enough to make a significant mark on history.
