Squids have a total of two eyes. These eyes are quite large and complex, resembling the eyes of vertebrates in structure and function. Squid eyes are capable of excellent vision, allowing them to see in dimly lit underwater environments.
Their eyes serve important functions for hunting and evading predators, providing the ability to detect movement and changes in light. Unlike some other marine creatures, squids do not possess eyelids; instead, a membrane covers their eyes, protecting them from the surrounding water.
Interestingly, there are various species of squids, and while they all share this basic feature of having two eyes, their eye size and shape may vary significantly depending on their habitat and lifestyle.
