As of now, only one country has successfully landed astronauts on the moon: the United States. The Apollo program, led by NASA, achieved this remarkable feat during the Apollo missions from 1969 to 1972.
The first successful manned moon landing was Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface, while Michael Collins orbited above in the Command Module.
Since then, the U.S. has completed a total of six manned lunar landings, with Apollo 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17 following the historic first mission. Other countries have conducted unmanned missions to the moon, but the United States remains the only nation to have sent astronauts to the lunar surface.
