The Mediterranean Sea is bordered by 23 countries. These countries are situated in three different continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. They include Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Western Sahara. Each of these countries has its own unique coastal culture and history that has been shaped by their proximity to this important body of water.
