At the beginning of William Golding’s novel ‘Lord of the Flies,’ there are a total of 12 boys on the island. These boys are survivors of a plane crash and find themselves stranded on a deserted island. The group includes Ralph, Piggy, Jack, Simon, Roger, Sam, Eric, and several younger boys referred to as the ‘littluns.’ The story explores how these boys attempt to govern themselves and the eventual descent into chaos and savagery.
