Lysosomes are not typically found in plant cells as they are in animal cells. Instead, plant cells have large central vacuoles that serve somewhat similar functions. While lysosomes are responsible for digesting cellular waste and macromolecules in animal cells, plant cells utilize their vacuoles for storage and breakdown of waste products.
Although plant cells do contain some enzymes that can perform similar roles to lysosomes, they organize their waste management and recycling processes differently.
