Harriet Tubman had three children. Her first two children, a daughter named Araminta Ross and a son named Charles, were born during her marriage to John Tubman. Later, she adopted a girl named Virginia after her marriage to Nelson Davis. Tubman’s journey as a mother was greatly affected by the circumstances of her life, including her escape from slavery and her work on the Underground Railroad, where she risked her life to save others.
