Chris McCandless, the subject of Jon Krakauer’s book Into the Wild, was away from home for approximately two years. After graduating from Emory University in May 1990, he embarked on a journey across the United States in pursuit of adventure and self-discovery. He eventually made his way to Alaska, where he lived alone in the wilderness for several months before his tragic death in August 1992.
During his time away, Chris traveled extensively, adopting various identities and rejecting societal norms. His quest was not only about geographical exploration but also about exploring his own beliefs and identity. His journey was fueled by a desire to connect more deeply with nature and to escape the constraints of modern life.
