When comparing the weights of an elephant and a hippo, elephants are generally heavier. An adult African elephant can weigh between 5,000 and 14,000 pounds, making them the largest land animals on Earth. In contrast, adult hippos typically weigh around 3,000 to 8,000 pounds. Therefore, while both animals are quite large, elephants significantly outweigh hippos on average.
This difference in weight is largely due to their size and body structure. Elephants have a much larger frame and mass, which supports their height and extensive trunk.
