The microchip, also known as the integrated circuit, was invented by Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce. Jack Kilby, an engineer at Texas Instruments, developed the first working integrated circuit in 1958. Around the same time, Robert Noyce, who co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor and later Intel, independently created a similar device. Both are credited with the invention of the microchip, which revolutionized the electronics industry.
