Neptune is indeed a planet. It is the eighth and farthest known planet from the Sun in our solar system. Neptune is classified as an ice giant, along with Uranus, due to its composition of heavier volatile substances compared to the gas giants Jupiter and Saturn.
There might be some confusion because of the reclassification of Pluto in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Pluto was reclassified from a planet to a ‘dwarf planet,’ but this change did not affect Neptune’s status as a planet. Neptune continues to be recognized as one of the eight major planets in our solar system.
So, to clarify, Neptune is very much a planet and remains an important part of our solar system’s planetary lineup.
