A baby lion is called a cub. Lion cubs are born in a litter, usually consisting of two to four cubs. They are born blind and rely entirely on their mother for protection and food during the first few weeks of their lives.
As they grow, lion cubs start to explore their surroundings and learn essential survival skills from their mother and other members of the pride. By the time they are about two years old, they are fully weaned and begin to take on more responsibilities within the pride.
