The Brontosaurus, a large herbivorous dinosaur, primarily ate plants. Its diet consisted mainly of ferns, cycads, and other vegetation that was abundant during the Late Jurassic period. The Brontosaurus had a long neck, which allowed it to reach high into trees to feed on leaves and branches. Its teeth were adapted for stripping vegetation rather than chewing, so it likely swallowed its food whole and relied on gastroliths (stomach stones) to help grind the plant material in its stomach. This diet provided the Brontosaurus with the necessary nutrients to sustain its massive body size.
